This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to gain a nationally recognised qualification in event security operations.

The objective of the qualification is to prepare learners for employment as an event steward providing learners with knowledge, understanding and skills in health and safety, responding to a variety of situations during events, managing the movement of spectators, managing conflict situations, responding to emergencies and providing information and advice.  In addition to the mandatory content, there are several optional units that provide flexibility in meeting both learners’ and employers’ needs.

The Highfield Level 2 Certificate in Event Security Operations (RQF) has been developed and is awarded by Highfield Qualifications and sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). The RQF is a qualification framework regulated by Ofqual and CCEA Regulation.

It is also suitable for delivery in Wales and is regulated by Qualifications Wales.

The qualification is supported by the UK Crowd Management Association (UKCMA).

Qualification overview and objective
This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to gain a nationally recognised qualification in event security operations.

The objective of the qualification is to prepare learners for employment as an Event Steward.

The qualification provides learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to respond to a variety of situations during events, such as managing the movement of spectators, managing conflict situations, responding to emergencies, and providing information and advice.

Entry requirements
To register for this qualification, learners are required to meet the following entry requirements:

  • be 16-years of age or above
  • have a good level of literacy and numeracy

Guidance on assessment
The qualification is assessed using an externally set, internally assessed learner pack containing open response questions and practical observation / evidence recording document.

The practical observation and evidence recording document is used to record judgements against the practical assessment criteria contained within Unit 7 which will be completed by an Assessor, under supervision in the role of an events steward at a minimum of one live event.

To complete a Highfield Level 2 Certificate in Event Security Operations (RQF) you will need to perform duties in an Event Steward capacity at a minimum of one live event – The Unit 7 Assessment will only be undertaken when a learner has successfully met all the learning goals in the assessment criteria contained within the Learner Assessment Pack.

Access to a live event is the responsibility of the learner to facilitate the completion of the Unit 7 Assessment by the Assessor.

Where an assessor is required to travel to undertake the Unit 7 Assessment, any additional costs (travel, fuel expense, parking, accommodation) will be the responsibility of the learner and/or company to whom the training is being delivered.
